I recently purchased the Colourpop In a Trance palette and while I love the white and purple highlights, the matte pastel colors look AWFUL on my skin tone. Besides mixing the pigments, is there a way to incorporate pastels without an all-pastel look? I don’t wear a lot of colorful shades for blends, and my brown looks awful next to pastels. I haven’t had the chance to look for “half-pastel looks” because I have trouble even putting into words what I ask. I would really love to take advantage of the palette but don’t know how to fit it into an everyday flattering look.
Could you mix them with a mixing medium (like Inglot duraline) and use them as a colourful liner?
You could put them on a white base like the nyx jumbo pencil in milk and use them as an inner corner pop of colour sort oof thing – I think in a trance has the glitter mattes? That could be cute, either in a monotone look or as a contrast (like a pink inner corner with a blue eye look or something)
I agree with the inner corner highlight idea. You could also use them on the lid surrounded by more flattering colours – typically using a transition shade that you know is flattering for you will help make unflattering colours more palatable.
Definitely know your situation with this palette.
I use them to line my lower lash line with more neutral/nude looks (especially the blues) to add a little pop of colour.
Hope you can get them to work for you!
