Today I wanted to really dig deep into this palette, & see what kind of looks I could create. I wanted to use the different finishes and highlight them as much as possible.
This is the Natasha Denona ‘Tropic’ palette, a mixed-toned, 15-shade spectrum of endless possibilities.
There is no eyeliner, no false lashes, no other palette – just the eye-look & a small amount of mascara.
……
LOOKS:
▪️Style #1: Neutral Look – this is my 2nd favorite. I had a REALLY bad time with the dark brown shade going extremely patchy on me. It also didn’t want to give me a good blend. I spent a lot of time on that outer-corner!
▪️Style #2: Soft Look – this is my least favorite look out of the three. Also, the red shade was VERY patchy, does NOT build, & won’t layer. Luckily, I had an easier time blending that one out!
▪️Style #3: Bold Look – this is my FAVORITE look out of the three. The light blue ‘Laguna’ shade gave me ABSOLUTE hell while trying to work with it. I haven’t come across such a bad shade in a long time. It is patchy, it won’t build, & it will not layer.
……
FORMULAS USED:
MATTE: 1/10 – almost every matte that I used in this palette gave me a problem. They are patchy, unbuildable, & will not layer with other shadows. I had such a hard time with them.
METALLICS: 7/10 – these were decent. I don’t hate them. But, I did notice that they were very dry-feeling. It takes a while to apply them, because you have to keep building upon them – layer after layer.
TOPPERS: 10/10 – this was my favorite formula. Significantly creamier than the metallics, they were easy to apply. I tend to use these types of shades for my inner corner & front lower lashline.
……
COMMENTS:
I’ve always thought this was a good palette, but when you actually REALLY dig into it – it’s really not. This is one of the EXPENSIVE $129 palettes, too – & from what I’ve experienced in this this today, it’s certainly not nearly worth that. The looks are decent, but it took a LOT of work to get there.

This palette, like many of ND, never appealed me at all, but I really really like you third look!
