Hi everyone – Hope you can all help me. I recently came to terms with the fact that I developed an allergy to carmine in eye shadow. I’m getting married in September and I’m now petrified, I’m going to put something on my eyes that will make them have the horrible reaction that goes with it. Has anyone experienced this and which eye shadow did you start using? Is there any hope that I won’t have to wear brown for the rest of my life?
Look for vegan makeup brands! Carmine is an animal derivative, so it shouldn’t be found in vegan products.
Developing allergies later in life is possible. Be careful even with brown shades, as they could still contain carmine. I suggest you check ingredient lists before purchasing and patch test on a non obvious spot before using cosmetics. Also, you can look for vegan products. Carmine is from cochineal bugs so vegan products won’t contain carmine.
