I am now 26 years old and I feel like the makeup that I have always used is no longer useful. I have fair oily skin from what I can tell, dark eyes, occasional breakouts. I’m sick of wearing foundation (especially after staying indoors during COVID). When I wear it now I feel like it looks good for a few hours and then my face gets so oily and it starts to melt, pucker or look mushy. God forbid, I accidentally touch my face, it will come off completely there and look silly. Any recommendations on how to go from makeup from the youtube tutorial 2013 to age 26 in 2021 for natural / non-glamorous makeup? I’d like something to wear everyday that doesn’t make me want a makeup wipe.
Some tips Coming from a 38F:
– Get a lighter more natural foundation or switch to a bb or cc cream, or only use concealer.
– Use powder products instead of cream ones and go light-handed with the brush.
– Get some blotting papers to remove excessive oiliness when necessary.
– Keep blush, lipstick and some powder foundation or your concealer for touch-up.
– Get a spray sunscreen mist to reapply during the day.
For the makeup itself, there is nothing wrong with going glam, no matter the age, but if you want to go for a more subtle day to day look, get a good palette of neutrals (for example the Dior backstage ones are really good and no brainers) and a nice volumizing mascara. Keep the falsies for special occasions. I also suggest that you keep a bright red lipstick for when you want a quick easy pick me up kind of makeup.
One more extremely important point: have a solid Skincare routine and stick to it, even if you don’t spend the night at your place, remove your makeup and moisturise.
Those are only suggestions, keep what you think suits your style and ditch the rest 😉
