……
Blush is an essential step in the makeup process for adding a flush of natural color back to your face, after you cancel out all the original tones with your foundation base.
There are many different types of blush, but today we are focusing in on cream stick blush. Cream stick blushes contain a variety of shades and/or finishes of blush, housed in a cylindrical component with a removable lid.
There are MANY different types of cream stick blushes, from a variety of different brands.
For this segment, I’m trying out 6 different branded (& popular!) cream stick blushes, & seeing which ones work & are worth the price tag – helping you to decide which ones are worth your time!
Lastly, I test EACH cream stick blush on a powdered surface versus a non-powdered surface to see, in which way, the blush is best used.
Please note – my blush placement isn’t precise in this series, I just kind of ‘throw it on there’ for testing purposes.
APPLICATION METHOD: applied stick directly on cheek with stamping motions, as to not disrupt base. I used a Wet n Wild ‘Cheek’ brush to gently blend each shade out.
+ Comments: feels very soft & creamy on the stick, not pigmented right away, buildable formula, worked well on both sides, has a hydrating core in center
+ Rating: B
……
▪️Blush #3 – Milk Makeup – ‘Glow Oil’ Lip + Cheek
+ Description: hot pink coral
+ Shade: ‘Flare’
+ Type of Finish: glowy finish
+ Scent: strawberry scent
+ Price: $15 (Sephora)
+ Blendability: harder to blend
+ Color Similarity: no
+ Comments: feels very oily on the stick, not very pigmented, softly buildable, not good over powder (lifted base), has shimmer in formula
+ Rating: C
……
▪️Blush #4 – Black Radiance – ‘Color Perfect’ Glow Stick
+ Description: bright orange
+ Shade: ‘Blush Up’
+ Type of Finish: glowy finish
+ Scent: no scent
+ Price: $4.59 (Black Radiance)
+ Blendability: blendable
+ Color Similarity: yes
+ Comments: feels very stiff on the stick, VERY pigmented right away, looked good on both sides
Lmao it’s sad how the Milk blush is the most expensive of the bunch and yet is the most underwhelming. I have one from a set of minis, and it takes so long to build up that I find it’s just not worth wearing :/
I love the info. I read through your reviews before taking a look at the swatches. It was such a relief to see we have similar tones on the face. I’ll be picking up the Bobbi Brown next time I’m able to splurge. Thank you so much!
