Hi all! I’m just starting to put on makeup and have combo skin that gets really oily throughout the day. like within 1-2 hours …. even when I’m not wearing makeup. I look oily 24/7 and it’s not just the T-zone of my face it’s like everywhere basically. but i still have so much dryness mixed with all the fat on my face. (I have a good skin care routine that works for me, so I don’t know what to do) 😠Not sure whether to use a moisturizing or matte primer first? (I’ve heard some are silicone and water based.) And then I’m not sure what type of fixative spray to finish? a moisturizer or a mat? like eg i don’t want to have a matte primer that really dries or a setting spray that makes my face feel / look dry. (my makeup cakes all the time) and I don’t want to get a moisturizer or fixer spray that will be too pinkish and make me fatter than I already am. I prefer a matte look because I don’t like my face to be shiny. He’s already getting so bright. (sigh) I use powder on my face (coty airspun) and try not to put on too much or I look very dry but I don’t know if it helps. I’m confused and don’t know much about makeup so any advice here would be wonderful 🙂
are you sure that its dry areas of your skin rather than dehydrated? I ask because if you’re using a moisturiser (or really any skincare) that’s thicker for those dry patches and they’re actually dehydrated, it won’t help the ‘dryness’ and will only feed into the oilness (I have super oily skin with dehydrated areas and will look shiny within minutes of applying powder, its the bane of my makeup life). If you don’t know the difference, dry skin is lacking oil while dehydrated is lacking in water. Dehydrated skin will actually produce more oil to try and make up for that lack of water, which could potentially be a reason you get oily so quickly.
Get a moisturizing primer. I know it sounds weird. But after all that powder you skin will get dry then get oily quicker. Try that out with any of the setting sprays and see which one works better (matte or hydrating) after my setting spray dries I usually go over it with a big brush with a little setting powder.
