I decided I was going to do an outline and this is my first time doing it and every video I have watched to teach me how to do it the person just said a shade darker than your skin tone but i dont know what shade this would cause mine has three different darker than my skin tone and they just outline without showing viewers which shade they are using and so if any of you could upload / share videos that could help me that would be great. side note I’m a king of dragsters so knowing how to outline is important
For contour, it’s not just about being darker, but also about being cooler than your skin tone. Contour is meant to mimic shadows caused by facial structure and bone structure. If it’s simply darker, it won’t work since it will lack the coolness that shadows have. Many contour products, truly contouring products and not bronzers mislabeled as contour products, will look greyer in pan and appear slightly grey on the skin.
I highly recommend [Alexandra Anele’s video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnzeQ_-amAM) on contouring. She explains the differences between bronzer and contour, and common misconceptions between the two and clears up misinformation which is rampart with contouring. I would also look up drag specific contouring techniques, however I am personally not into drag so I have no recommendations for who to watch. The only ones I’m familiar with are those used by cosplayers.
EDIT: The contour shade I use is Amber by Fenty Beauty in their Cream Bronzer formula. My skintone is closest to Fenty 105 and NYX Pale.
