every red shadow I have looks like a real red in the sample / in the pan, but when I blend it over my eyes (I have extremely fair skin) it always looks too pink. no advice? or any unique shade suggestions for real reds that don’t look pink?

Try an eyeshadow base or primer.
A lot of make up tutorials use a white eyeshadow base to really make colors pop.
Pack it, don’t blend it. Use other shades as transitions

Definitely use a base or primer, I use wet an wild photofocus eyeshadow prime and then the next jumbo eye pencil in milk over that just to make my eyeshadow stand out.
Also u might have to try a different colour of red. All reds have different qualities some are more pink, some are orange, some are blue. If pink really stands out on u u might have to try an orange or blue tone red.
If all else fails sometimes I find its just the way the eyeshadow/pigment is packed. You can always depot the eyeshadow, crush it up and use it as a loose colour, I find this works real well.
