I have naturally blonde lashes, so they are very difficult to see without a heavy dousing of mascara to coat them. The only problem is, that I don’t feel like going through the application/removal of mascara every single day.
That’s where lash tinting comes in.
I know a lot of salons are closed right now, & to be completely honest – I’m too damn cheap to pay for salon services, anyway. So, I figured I’d try the DIY version, which I’ve never, ever done before.
This is an honest process review & tutorial of my first time trying this stuff. I went with ‘black’ because I wanted a bold, dramatic lash – but they offer softer, more neutral colors.
I did a lot of research, & this kit comes heavily recommended, & doesn’t cost a lot for 25 applications. I’m trying this out so YOU don’t have to waste your time (if it’s worthless)!

↪ STEP 1: Begin with dry, makeup-free eyes. They recommend an arm patch test before starting to see if you are allergic to the ingredients. WORK ON ONE EYE AT A TIME.
↪ STEP 2: Using a Q-Tip, apply a thin layer of petroleum jelly to undereye, & stick one of the paper shields to it.
↪ STEP 3: Using the applicator stick, apply cream colorant to top & lower lashes. Let sit for 1-2 minutes. Wipe off the applicator stick.
↪ STEP 4: Using the applicator stick, apply gel activator to top & lower lashes. Let sit for 1-2 minutes. Wipe off applicator stick.
↪ STEP 5: Dampen a tissue (or napkin), & gently wipe off all applied product.
↪ STEP 6: Brush through lashes w/ included lash comb.
↪ STEP 7: Repeat process if necessary, or begin process on next eye.

👂Review: Overall, after all the time spent doing this, there isn’t THAT huge of a difference to really warrant this being a ‘staple’ in my routine.
Sure, I can see my lashes now, & I see more definition, but it was a lot of work to get there for minuscule change.
I don’t think I’ll do this very often, or use this brand again. Maybe I’ll try another brand & see if the color is bolder.
Also, I wanted to make a note that when you wipe the products off with the damp cloth, it burns the hell out of your eyes – & there’s no real escaping that.
