My skin is generally oily and I never have dry spots when I’m not wearing foundation but as soon as I put on my foundation (Maybelline Dream Urban Cover) it accentuates the dry and almost scaly spots on my nose and on my cheeks near my nose. I have tried using a primer, moisturizer before the foundation, and the only thing that makes it a little better is using a sponge, but the problem is still there. I also can’t really use powder even if I really want to because the powder makes the problem worse. Anyone know how I can fix this?
looks like it’s time to get a new foundation homie
If you’ve been treating your skin as oily maybe you aren’t addressing the dryness with skincare? You could try exfoliating those areas with something like an AHA or BHA. And you could put a more moisturizing cream just in those areas a little while before putting on foundation so it has time to sink in.
My skin is combination so sometimes I’ll use different skincare on my cheeks than on my tzone.
One more thing, the regular Fenty foundation is very matte and drying. If you’re going to try that brand maybe you’d be better off with the hydrating formula. But don’t feel that you necessarily have to pay more in order to get a good foundation. Drugstore brands have come a long way.

I’m pretty sure the entire dream line, even the liquid, has particles in it that, on normal skin, serve as a smoothing, blurring affect, but on dry skin really just make it patchy and clingy.
What primer did you try? You could try a hydrating setting spray too.
Allie Glines on youtube does a great video with the Colorpop Pretty Fresh moisturizing primer and mist, and I think her technique of spraying and patting down the mist might help you. Youtube search her and see what you find! She also has dry patches occasionally so her recommendations might be good.
I’ve tried that foundation before… it’s 100% that foundation!
Try Dream Radiant Foundation by Maybelline.
It’s made with collagen & hyaluronic acid.
