Got myself a new ~ fancy palette (I’m a makeup rube) then read the reviews and got worried 

So I treated myself to a palette (I’ve used the wrong one in the title 🤦‍♀️) it looked super pretty and like colours I would use! It was on offer and I’m just getting back into doing my make-up after a long on and off relationship.
Then I started looking at reviews out of curiosity, who is this Jacyln Hill I ask myself. So much mould, so many unhappy customers. I panicked nearly cancelled my order, then figured, why not give it a go. They’ve had nearly two years to fix the problems.

First impressions, IT’S SO PRETTY. But white is a silly colour for a palette 😂.
All the swatches are single swipe, with my finger tip, apart from Mystic which is two. Put on bare skin, in natural light. Not sure what my undertones are? But I’m pinky pale.

So the shimmers feel buttery and glide on.
The mattes are slightly chalkier, but on first impressions, apart from mystic, the immediate colour pay out is good! Mystic only took two swipes and then looks good!

Currently, I’m happy with my purchase. I also bought some new brushes so I’ll probably give a ~look a go. But for now I’m happy with my new pretty shinies.

I think a lot of the bad reviews might have to do with the Morphe and Crown Beauty fiasco. Basically Morphe would buy products and supplies from Crown (which is what Crown is for) and then slap their label on it for an additional $20-30 per palette. The Jaclyn Hill thing had a lot to do with her initial 35-color palette that was exactly the same as the OMG Eyeshadow besides branding, price, and talc not being listed in the ingredients (the Crown palette is $22 instead $39). Also – JH has stocks in Morphe, and she made it sound like the colors she picked out were hand-selected by her, which was not the case. I think things may have changed a bit since then? I can’t find an exact palette like yours – IIRC Morphe might still be buying from Crown, but they are at least making palettes with different color combos. The closest I can find color wise to this one is a mix between the 10-color palettes OMG Eyeshadow, Temptation, and Fuego or the 12-color CP08. I think it’s worth looking into if you do like Morphe – personally I’ve just never been able to afford it so I haven’t cared to look since, and things may have changed since that controversy. But that might hopefully give some insight on the bad reviews.
