Moisturize and hydrate (not the same things). Also a different product could help. One that is more emollient. Keep powders away from undereye crinklies. At best use one that is super finely milled. I use IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Undereye concealer and the Bye Bye Pores powder. I only put the powder right under my bottom lashes, with the pointed end of a Beauty Blender so as not to get powder on the rest of the under eye area. I’m 62. I prep with an Essence (hydrating), Hyaluronic Acid serum, and Hourglass primer. I think, to a degree, it’s going to happen regardless but the right products will help.
I have found that for me, powder really accentuates the lines under my eyes. It clings to the edges of any dry skin under there and makes the area look crepey.
I moisturize with HA eye creams morning and night… it’s improved some of the wrinkles but I still have some, and dark circles. I had filler done last year and it’s starting to fade. The concealer seems to make my problem worse, by falling into the creases and drawing more attention to the area. Right now I’m using Il Mackiage or Nars concealers.
Have you tried using a waxy texture concealer? I don’t know what skin type you have…but I’ve found that for my dry skin-type, if I use a creamy concealer and/or bake, I tend to have more creasing. I’ve minimized creasing by using a more waxy concealer and I also try to apply less concealer (two dots at closer to the inner corner of my eye and near the outer corner of my eye) and blend it out. This tends to work for me.
I found this happened to me as well. A great hack I learned from a beauty vlogger was to dampen the sponge and use that to tap the powder on ever so lightly, exactly where you want it -even around the eyes.
Tell ya what, it works wonders once you get the swing of it! Give it a go!
For products, I use thank me later primer, catrice HD liquid foundation, colourpop concealer, and setting powder is dermablend. Everything seems to work well together.
I’ve never managed to do it myself but the bigger focus should be on taking care of your under eyes and your skin in general. Sleep, drinking water, good nutrition- they do as much or more than any product can. That’s the big thing and makeup can’t really fix that. It can hide it when you’re 20, 25 but it catches up with you. I like to use Laluset Hyaluronic acid cream. I also take it orally/internally as a supplement. You could try micro-needling or current devices to firm up the skin but be gentle.
Also, calling yourself old at thirty five- which Oscar Wilde referred to as being such an attractive age that women elected to remain thirty five for years- isn’t cute or funny. It’s self deprecating, and it might seem old to teenagers but to those of us who are older than you, it just feels mean.
I was having the same exact thought until about a month ago.
I have found a good (but not totally perfect) solution. I start by moisturizing my entire face and apply my eye cream, let those sink into my skin while I do my eye makeup (about 5 mins), if the eye cream completely absorbs completely I will put on another very light layer. Then I tap on a light layer of the tarte Amazonian Colored Clay CC Corrector. *this reaches the part where I’m still experimenting* from there I have:
A) applied my foundation (no concealer, but bringing my foundation up under my eye) and letting it set for a moment so it can dry down a bit. This is the best anti-crease effect I have achieved but leaves something to be desired in the dark circle department
B) CC then concealer then foundation but avoid setting the area if possible to avoid cakiness
C) applied 2 thin layers of the tarte CC and not set at all
D) applied the tarte CC and then used a the more vibrant LA girl Color Correcter in the darkest areas
Moral of the story I have noticed the less concealer and powder I use the less issues I have with creasing.
I highly recommend giving the tarte CC a try if you haven’t!
PS using a damp makeup sponge tapped lightly in lieu of a brush makes a big difference if you feel like you *must* set your under eye
PSS I have also acknowledged I may need to change my makeup ‘style’ as I continue to age, I am clinging to the similar style you have with bringing my foundation/concealer up to my water line but have started to pay around with smoking out my bottom lash line to atleast divert attention from the creasing
I actually found in my case that baking my under eyes after applying foundation and concealer doesn’t make it cake as bad. The only thing is, when I’m rushing in the morning, I don’t always have the time to let it sit for at least a few minutes. When I’m doing a full makeup look and want it to last, I bake for a bit, and I don’t get nearly as bad creasing or settling into my fine lines.

Do you powder your under eyes?

I prefer my concealer not powdered.

Suppose it depends on what youre doing during your routine. I’ve learned never to ‘bake’ under my eyes because that’ll just show the lines even worse.
