how can people mix concealer / foundation without it dragging the skin? whenever I watch videos, people seem to blend their makeup more easily with minimal tugging (but maybe they pull, but they’re used to it?). as if they could just rub their foundation / concealer or polish it with a brush. I don’t know how my makeup is supposed to feel. I use my fingers to blend my concealer. I do this by tapping to smear it, then I rub it to blend. it was too hard to mix and even 1 point was too much product and too much friction. maybe a dew corrector would be better? but I feel like it would always be the same when I tried to mix it up. i have dry combination skin. I hydrated and primed

There will be a little tugging and rubbing. Similar to how when you apply face wash and lotion, the skin will move a bit with you. That being said, if its uncomfortable in anyway then something is wrong. If your skin is tight or the products aren’t blending easy then they could be dry. Try using a damp sponge, cushion, beauty blender. Liquid formulas move and blend better typically. For example, people like the L.A girl concealers, but I find them kinda dry and like I have to really work them in. I was using a brush and it’s kinda uncomfortable. I switched to a more Liquidy concealer like Nars radiant creamy and I use a cushion sponge and now I pat pat pat instead of dragging and it’s a much better finish and comfortable on my skin. 🥰
Tl;Dr try moisturizing, more moist concealer, damp sponge of some kind, pat don’t rub.
with concealer, I always start with way less than what I “think I need” LOL. less is always more! you can of course build coverage if needed. I also use my ring finger to apply/blend under-eye concealer. in a gentle patting motion like you described!
perhaps a more lightweight concealer would be worth a shot? Loreal Infallible is pretty heavy if I remember correctly.
I don’t like using brushes or my fingers for the same reason. I have drier skin that tends to sort of suck the moisture out my products quicker. They dry down too fast and don’t blend well that way. Brushes always feel scratchy on my sensitive skin.
I only use damp sponges with a bouncing motion. The moisture in the sponge helps keep the product from drying down on me too quickly and there’s no tugging with the bouncing.
I would suggest applying a gel eye cream (i.e. Elemis Pro Collagen Advanced Eye Treatment). My skin is dry and if I apply concealer without hydrating my under eyes, it just looks crepey. Applying a thinner eye cream has really helped the concealer blend out easier and not dry out my under eyes. And make sure the concealer you are using does not dry down too quickly because then you will absolutely tug at the skin since it’s set. I’ve also heard some mix a little bit of eye cream in the concealer right under the eye. But first I would make sure you get a light consistency, hydrating concealer. Hope that helps!
