A little background, I have super oily skin especially on my T zone. I bought the Makeup Forever Velvet foundation and the shade matched my skin tone perfectly. I’ve never found a foundation that matched so perfectly, but at 5 p.m. my face looks like it wiped it off with grease and the foundation comes off (for example, if a strand of hair touches my face, it would leave lines on my forehead). After doing more research and reading reviews, I decided to give Giorgio Armani’s Power Fabric a try because of its strength and matte finish. It’s expensive but I thought it was worth it. Let’s say I absolutely love what I feel on my face, the hold, the coverage but the feeling of lightness, everything except the shade. The shade closest to my skin tone is still slightly pinkish. I want to love her but I am so upset. How do you make both work? For reference, I put Laroche Posay sunscreen and Fenty ‘pro matte primer before the foundation. Next, I use shiseudo Translucent Setting Powder, then I finish with Charlotte Tilbury Airbrush Flawless Setting Spray.
I would try 2 things. I would mix the two foundations and see how that affects things. I would try a new primer, one with a focus on oil control. Maybe the fenty one isn’t what your skin needs. You could also try powdering halfway through the wear time, before it gets to the “moist” stage. You mention it starts escaping your face around 5pm, what time are you applying it? I feel like most wear times for foundation is only about 6 or so hours, longer for very matte foundations or if you have very dry skin. I’m basing this on a ton of foundation reviews I’ve watched (at least 30 from 12 or so different influencers in the past 2 months) and it seems like right around the 6 hour mark, foundation starts to degrade quickly. Maybe watch some reviews on the foundation that matches best and see if others are having similar problems or if they’ve found a primer/powder/foundation combo that might be with trying.
As an oily person myself, I’ve experimented with forgoing setting spray and it tends to slow down the “oilification” process throughout the day hahaha. I only really use it if my makeup looks too powdery. I hear putting setting powder (BEFORE foundation) on the oily parts of your face is a good way to lock in the foundation a bit more!
