I’ve never tried anything from them but I never understood the outrage over “dupe” brands. In my opinion a $70 Dior palette is definitely not worth the price tag, and it’s not like designer brands produce things more ethically than cheaper brands – it’s essentially just paying for the name. Sure, it’s not “original” to base your brand off creating dupes of higher end products, but it’s 2020, most things in makeup aren’t original anymore, and they’re just filling a demand – people like dupes. Nowadays higher end brands are just constantly trying to capitalize off their old products that were actually original – take Urban Decay, for example, who refuse to let the Naked name die because they want to relive the success of the first game-changing Naked palette because the market is so oversaturated now they struggle to be innovative. So dupe brands are not the only culprit of lacking innovation. Sometimes the hate on these brands comes off as classist.
How inclusive they are about ALL of their bronzers impressed me the most. I’m in the medium shade range and even I have trouble finding bronzers, so I understand the struggle for people who are deeper than me. Thank god for Makeup Revolution.
I love their eyebrow pencils. They are my favorite ones I have ever tried. Not too firm and waxy, but not too soft either. They are the perfect consistency.
Could those who know add their favorites from Revolution? I have their mermaid heart highlighter and Goddess of Love and they are my go to inner corner sparkles. Aside from those I know nothing about them.
I have a lot of I heart revolution chocolate palettes as well as a couple of makeup revolution’s colour books and they perform amazingly. Many people dislike their eyeshadows but I really love them. I remember discovering the brand back in 2016 and I was so excited to see such an affordable brand with a wide range of products.
IDK why this post takes me back to the Emily Noel x Makeup Revolution drama with Tati.😂
I had no idea they had a bad rep lmao. I’ve liked everything I’ve bought from them. Their complexion products are great and their highlighters are soooo nice. They’ve expanded into some skincare too, with products like TO. I haven’t tried but I’m curious.
I also don’t see what’s bad about making dupe products, other brands do it too. Makeup is regulated and it’s not like the quality takes a huge dip, so I don’t find it comparable to something like buying a designer bag vs. buying a fake. It should actually make you reconsider how some brands charge so much for makeup (coming from someone whose favorite foundation is CT Airbrush) when the quality difference doesn’t always justify it.
People like to shit on them, but their business tactic is brilliant. It’s Morphe all over again except they’re not switching out ingredients and falsely claiming to be something (vegan) that they’re not. Lots of brands have hits and misses, but I haven’t had a bad Revolution product yet (fingers crossed). Their chocolate bar dupes are fantastic and put Too Faced to shame.
Heyoooo I’m not sure why I was under the impression that they were not cruelty free, but I just double checked on the Logical Harmony list… And they are! Woop woop! That’s awesome news to me and my wallet. Thanks for the heads up.
I’m not a huge fan of the chocolate bar palettes (or the small donut palettes) but their other products seem so good?? I own the nightmare before Christmas palette and it is really nice!
I have been experimenting with “high-end” foundations (NARS, Fenty, Este Lauder, IT) and recently went back to revolution because I wanted to finish the bottle. I was floored by how much I liked it on my skin. I have to experiment a little more to know how they really compare in exact conditions, but I still can’t believe how much I liked it.
I got 4/5 of their colour books and I was really impressed! Each palette has 48 shades, mattes on one side and shimmers on the other. I got them on sale for $10 ea and while I did return the gray one just because it wasn’t very versatile for me, the quality is actually really spectacular!
I want to love Makeup Revolution so much, but their shipping SUCKS. Every single order I’ve placed from their website arrives with at least one product shattered, because apparently they believe that a cardboard envelope and a layer or two of brown paper is appropriate packaging. Two of the last four times I’ve had to ask them for a replacement, the replacement shows up shattered too. Three of those four times, it took two months to get the replacement.
I’ll still pick up their products from Ulta when they are in stock, but I refuse to order from their website.
I swear by Patrick Ta’s $22 brow wax, but I just bought Makeup Revolutions dupe of it for $8 and it works exactly the same if not better. Makeup revolution is actually a great brand
I have a ton of MR in my collection. I have loved them from the jump. Their Reloaded palettes are a staple in my collection because my attention drifts frequently and I get to try new color stories at a price point that won’t break the bank.
They have awesome staples and always cater to the newest trends, so again I get to keep up, but don’t have a spend a ton. I’ve never understood the hate they get. I try to talk everyone into giving them a shot.
Honestly, I was impressed with the Flawless Chilled palette, and as soon as I saw they had their Flawless palette sale, I pulled the trigger and got 3 others. I’m maybe not the biggest fan of the the pressed glitters, but I really love their shadows, and I think the tins are super pretty. The duping has never bothered me. If it did, then ELF and NYX are in the same boat. If they can be ethical, and dupe a super expensive product that isn’t ethical, I’m all for it.
I mean, they’re cheap so there’s bound to be a hit or miss. The only product I’ve tried from them is the Sophx eyeshadow palette and it’s good. If it doesn’t perform like say, ABH, I wouldn’t be mad because it is cheap. I love it, so far.
Would anyone have any eyeshadow recommendations? I’m a little bit hesitant cuz I bought the redemption palette and absolutely hated it, but I’m willing to give them a try 😌.
Their eyeshadow palettes are hands down some of my absolute favs in my medium-sized collection. Always reach for them when I need my look to be flawless.
I agree and disagree at the same time. I had the ultra bronze which was my favourite bronzer ever, it was not too warm and not too cool, so it worked as bronzer and contour in one. I dropped it and it broke, I was so sad since it had already been discontinued. I also have some other products from them that I think work fairly well and I happily use.
Their eyeshadows are bad though. They aren’t horrible, I have the emily noel the wants and I had the neutrals vs newtrals and I thought they were good when I first got them. The only other palette I had at that point was from morphe. Since then I have bought two nabla palettes and two colourpop palettes and I’ve noticed that the revolution shadows are patchy and harder to blend when you compare them to the others. They are not unusable by any means, but I would not say they are good quality.
I general though I don’t dislike them, it rubs me the wrong way when they dupe other products not only by recreating the colours but also the packaging, but other than that I have no problem with them
The revolution pro concealer in the little black tube is the best concealer I have ever used, absolute ride or die. The original Soph palette and one of the I heart revolution Chocolate palettes are also ones I use daily. They did a dupe of the Bobbi brown shimmer brick and that is also fantastic. I mean, sure some of the misses are misses, and sometimes I get the impression of style over substance while they churn out new and sometimes a bit gimmicky products, but on the whole I think they’re a good brand and they seem to do well on shade ranges and so on- they were there doing 50 odd shades while more established brands were offering 7 shades, and that alone makes them winners in my eyes.
Their eyeshadow palettes are my drugstore favourite and it’s the first brand I go to when checking out makeup in Priceline. Really blendable and pigment is fantastic! I even bought their dupe for Huda Beauty’s New Nudes palette and side by side it’s close but pretty much similar in colour story. Makeup Revolution and Maybelline are my favourite drugstore brands.
Never looked down on the brand (I like their concealers) but I never knew about the anti-slavery statement either. Good to know. I’ll support them more.
I don’t like most of their eyeshadows. That’s it. Literally everything else, Revolution has me covered. 5 years ago, most of their stuff was so…janky. Their dupes were badly done and most of their products were very low quality. Now? Almost everything I have from them is just as good as my high end products, and in some cases better. I wouldn’t even call them hit or miss anymore, these days they rarely disappoint me. I really feel like I can count on them, personally, which isn’t something I can say for many brands.
Plus people act like dupe brands are gonna suddenly overtake bigger brands for the same products. Like, no! Makeup Revolution existing doesn’t stop MAC from being one of the biggest brands in existance.

I have a lot of Makeup Revolution in my fairly large collection, they’re nowhere near as bad as people make them sound.
How inclusive they are about ALL of their bronzers impressed me the most. I’m in the medium shade range and even I have trouble finding bronzers, so I understand the struggle for people who are deeper than me. Thank god for Makeup Revolution.

I mean, she’s not wrong. I love their products and have yet to get a bad one.

Their products are brilliant for the price point and most of my routine is made up of their products.
I had no idea they had a bad rep lmao. I’ve liked everything I’ve bought from them. Their complexion products are great and their highlighters are soooo nice. They’ve expanded into some skincare too, with products like TO. I haven’t tried but I’m curious.

I have been happy with my products from that brand too. My favorite is the mint choc palette!
Not sure how I feel with their new expensive lines though. Are they going the way Nyx has gone?

i love makeup revolution and i started using them before all these nasty reviews and they’re amazing
One of my favourite brands, actually. Not tried one of their products that I haven’t loved.

My favorite all time palette is a makeup revolution palette!
Would anyone have any eyeshadow recommendations? I’m a little bit hesitant cuz I bought the redemption palette and absolutely hated it, but I’m willing to give them a try 😌.
As someone who’s entire makeup collection comes from makeup revolution, I’m so happy to see this post.
I absolutely love makeup revolution and I heart revolution, they make the bulk of my makeup collection and YouTube content.
That are cheap, they work, they’re ethical, they abide by anti slavery and working hour regulations. What more could any one want?
Every brand has hit or miss products, imo this is a lot more hit than miss ☆

Fucking love Makeup Revolution.
I think people forget we all have different skin. Something that works for some doesn’t work for others. I personally love makeup revolution though.

Wait which of their products are dupes?

I very much did not like their small donut palettes a couple years ago but I got a big purple palette that’s pretty and super easy to work with.
Always liked their stuff, honestly I don’t anything bad to say about them.
