I need a white or translucent setting powder after my sunscreen and tinted BB cream. (I use it to mattify the oily look of the sunscreen). … However … I wear makeup on the bus! Most loose powder containers get dirty on the go, as all the powder enters through the top holes and almost overflows when you open the lid. It also means you can accidentally create powder dust clouds that I CANNOT get on public transport! On the flip side, pressed powders sort of suck IMO because they’re usually not light and ‘fluffy’ enough to settle on the dew products I’m trying to fix. I feel like I have to slide the powder against my layer of BB cream with my brush, which is problematic as it disrupts the coverage. Suggestions?
I really like the Ciate Watermelon Burst Pressed Setting Powder. It’s translucent, and kind of silky feeling – meaning I feel it’s easy to pick up with a brush and covers easily (I also wear tinted BB cream and sunscreen). It does have a bit of a shimmer to it though, so it isn’t a completely matte look
I find the type of brush you use with a pressed powder can make a big difference. Try to get a really fluffy but firm brush!
If not, the Cover FX translucent powder is good as there is a lid of the holes. I open the container, then tip it upside down. Then, I open the lid, and pick up the loose powder, and then fluff it across the lid (as it has tiny spikes to plug the holes where the powder comes out). This helps ensure there’s less of a mess – pretty good for on the go.
I’m terrible at using loose powders! Laura Mercier has a pressed version of their translucent setting powder and it is my holy grail powder! Works just like the loose pne but without all the mess
