I just got some awesome multi-color eyeshadows and my god they look amazing but they are also quite dark. So far I only use them for eyeliner because every time I use dark shadows on my lids I end up looking like I have a black eye. I want to create a look that isn’t too bold for work and is user-friendly as well. Thank you in advance!

You could try mixing them with a white base shifting shadow (KVD alchemy shadows come to mind as an example). If you grind up pressed powders fine enough you can repress them dry. You need less of a dark color vs. the white base. You’ll get a lighter and less saturated color (closer to grey) but the shift should stay intact.
Other than that, I don’t believe there’s a way to make them appear lighter. Black and dark based anything is hard to lighten without breaking them up and mixing them with something else. Even if you applied the darker multichrome first and then put a lighter topper on top, it wouldn’t lighten that under base color enough
