I am using KVD Lock-it in Light 48 Neutral I want to buy the lock-it powder foundation but the shades are named totally different. Since there are no more samples in store to try out, I’m not sure how to pair. Is there some sort of guide to “converting” my known shade in liquid, to powder foundation? Also … can we request product samples from Sephora even if they are not in the open?

We aren’t allowed to make any samples (in NY, anyhow) due to COVID restrictions. We have a limited supply of pre-packaged samples, but they are for a very limited selection of products (mostly skincare).
We have clear plexiglass palettes that we can swatch colors on and hold up to your cheek/neck to get a match. It’s not ideal, so if you have a foundation from a certain brand that you know matches, we can put it in our Color iQ system to get a match in other brands – which is way easier. You can also do it on the Sephora app.
You can try both findation.com and Temptalia’s foundation matrix. Plug your current matches in (the more, the better) and then look for the powder foundation you want to see what shades the sites recommend. This is great for narrowing down options; after that, you can look up swatches.
