Pat McGrath Labs – Mothership VIII: Divine Rose II ✌
……
👁 Look Created: Winged Blend-Out
……
⚫ Packaging: shades are 1.32g each, circular-shaped pans, luxury rose gold chromatic plastic packaging, bi-fold, palette brand is front & center, luxury-weight, magnetic closure, small rectangle shape, large beveled mirror inside, pans are not intended to be removed, shade names are designated on a separate sheet
……
⚫ Country of Origin: Italy
……
⚫ # of Shades in Palette: 10 (9 eyeshadows & 1 pressed pigment)
⚫ Dexterity Concerns: the magnet on this palette is very strong & might be a barrier for someone with dexterity concerns
……
⚫ Type of Press: moderate – a lot of kickback in pans, no fallout on my face; can do either face or eyes first with this palette
……
⚫ Extra Information: this is the follow-up palette to the original Divine Rose – it’s supposed to be a transformation of the shades into a ‘glittering grandiflora bouquet’, NOT cruelty-free, NOT vegan, 12-month PAO
🔸️Shade Variance: this palette has a nice ‘light-to-dark’ gradient. There are only 2 mattes in this palette, making building a foundation quite difficult. Also, most of your looks are going to go in one-direction due to the lack of depth options.
🔸️Formula:
Mattes: the mattes are really nice. They are extremely blendable, & the two chosen for this palette really play well together, in terms of color.
Duochrome: there is one duochrome in this palette, & it begins as a champagne, but in certain lighting it shifts to an opalescent finish. The shade barely has a base pigment, so it makes for a good highlight shade.
Metallics: the majority of this palette consists of a range of metallic shades. There are some different types of metallics in this palette – there’s chromatic, glistening, luminous, & a satin. Each one has something special about it, making each shade dramatically different in functionality than the previous. Each one of the metallics have a base pigment to them.
Triochrome: this is the stand-out in the palette. A true triochrome, this shade shifts from fuchsia to golden peach to chartreuse. It feels extremely soft & silky. It works extremely well with a brush, too.
Glittering Topper: this shade is just … sparkly. It’s a topper with tons of tiny glitter reflects. It does not have a base pigment, so you can apply it atop any other shade to enhance the base shadow.
🔸️Packaging: some may say it’s over-the-top, but I think it’s reminiscent of a $125 palette. If I’m paying that much, THIS is the luxury I want.
🔸️Recommendation: Honestly, I have no idea what happened with this eye look. It’s just a weird look. I kind of like it, though. This was my second time playing with this palette, & really putting the different formulas to the test! The price per shade is ‘expensive’. Each shadow pan holds an above average amount of shadow. I do not think anybody would find difficulty in storing this palette. I am keeping this in my collection.
▪️If you are interested in this palette, I would recommend it.
