I’ve mixed my foundations with serum before when I wanted a lighter foundation look, but I know this only works with some foundations (sometimes it gets wonky when you try to spread it on your face). Might be worth a try?

Mhh I don’t really think a setting spray will fix that for you.
Can you give a bit more information about your skin condition and type and what do you use to set the foundation? Maybe even what you prime with?
I have that foundation and while I’m not impressed longevity wise, it doesnt look cakey on me. I have dry to combination skin and set it with the rcma powder. I find the foundation sets into fine lines after a few hours, no matter the amount of urban Decay all nighter setting spray (which is soooo good but not cheap) I put on it. I’m a big fan of the urban Decay Naked foundation, it doesn’t look cakey, doesn’t set in fine lines. It looks amazing, even after 8 hours of work. I have yet to find a drugstore foundation that can compete with it.
I’ve found over the years that you’ll need to mix and match moisturizers, primers, and foundations because some products don’t mix well together on your face and cause the cake look. Luckily now days you can buy 2 in 1 moisturizer/primer and a step further, just use a good BB cream and setting powder for shininess.
Less foundation or a thinner formula. Keep problem areas to be solved with concealer. I always use 1 to 1.5 pumps of foundation tops on my clients, I lose a little of the insta drama and coverage but, creating a thinner layer usually looks better than covering everything.
Moisturize your face, always.
Avoid really matte foundations, they tend to look cakey, even if you’re oily, just play with your setting powder.
Give priority to cream and liquid products, they’re generally more skin like.
Maybe a mixing medium or a few drops of face oil with your foundation will help you.
Baking is BS, never do it close to eyes, almost always will look terrible, that’s my personal experience on myself and clients. Except if you are 12 LOL. Actually powders generally makes foundations cakey, use them strategically where you need, not necessarily lots all over.
A nice setting spray, -replacing or not the powder -. My favorite for this always been fix+, can make you oily, but try it, maybe it works.
Sponges give you a lovely fresh and “natural” finish.
Maybe skip your pore minimizing primers, they’re usually too thick.
Don’t believe instagram or youtube, there’s no such a thing as “invisible” makeup. this will immensely help your mental health and help you stabilish a healthier relationship with makeup. Maybe look more the “beauty” muas like Hindash, Nikki makeup, etc.
And last but surely not least, don’t wear if it doesn’t make u happy, maybe try approaching your beauty routine in a different way, like skincare and only concealer, bronzer and blush, etc. Don’t feel pressured to use foundation if you don’t like the way it looks just because you see other people doing it.
