Hello! I am a bit new to makeup. I usually don’t wear foundation or only use bb cream. Recently I decided to try wearing foundation but saw that there are 2 types of powder. Not sure if I should use both or just one of them is suitable?

Oily skin, go for setting powder, with finishing powder as optional. Non-oily, go for finishing. That’s a guide at its simplest.
I personally love Hourglass Veil, which is a mix of both worlds. Wouldn’t recommend for oily skin tho as it only has mild oil-absorption properties. Laura Mercier is a true setting powder.
Hourglass Ambient powder series are true finishing powders.
Finishing powders are designed to subtly reflect light to give a filtered/smoothed skin look.
Setting powders are more design to set damp foundation and add more longevity/oil-absorption through the day.
These are generalisations, but a pretty reasonable basic indication of their different purposes.
I don’t use any and my foundations stay put. It will depend on your skin type (dry, oily,…) remember however that the more powder you use, the more cakey you might get. There are also some good setting sprays that you can use instead.
I would just use one. I don’t know anyone that uses finishing powder, I’m not even familiar with what it is without googling it. Usually I do my foundation, then wait like 15 minutes for it to naturally dry a little bit, then add the setting powder and brush it all off so you have that thin invisible layer. It basically mattifies the sticky/ wet foundation. At the very end, finish with setting spray and it won’t look all powdery. I use Nyx Born to Glow foundation, it’s my favorite lately.
