Hi everyone, I’m planning to finally invest in the Take Me Back To Brazil Palette, and I’ve heard that it takes a good primer to make the colors pop. I don’t use a primer on my eyes (sometimes concealer if I’m using bright colors) so I’m starting from scratch here. I have dry lids so wrinkling is usually not a problem for me, but texture can be (which is why I have never used a primer in the past – keeping the coats of minimum product!). What are your choices for drugstore primers that really bring out the colors? Does a “nude” color primer work to lighten eye shadow or should I go for something white?
I use the white nyx jumbo pencil as a primer. I think it’s technically a shadow itself but it works great as a base. The white makes colors show up true to what they’re like in the palette.
I use NYC stick primer. Not sure if it will work for you like it does for me since texture isn’t an issue for me. However whatever you choose if you want the colors to really pop for more than an hour get a white primer. I noticed a huge difference in wear time with my green eyeshadow. I work 8-5 so I needed it to last all day and white was much better. I like the sticks in terms of texture. In a pinch I’ve also used a white eyeliner stick and it’s worked fine
ELF makes an affordable eye primer putty in white. It’s very stiff/waxy (I pat it on with my finger) but prevents creasing and makes color pop.
Nyx eye shimmer primer is really good for bright colors!
