Try the new Edge of Reality palette from KVD Vegan Beauty {With Mini-Review} 

**Mini Review:**

I used to love the old KVD eyeshadow palettes, but after all the controversy they haven’t put out anything new in a long time. I didn’t even plan on buying this but I snagged it impulsively when they had some sale with tons of free gifts. Also, if you bought a mascara with it the palette ended up coming to only $29. So here I am.

I’m actually really impressed with the quality of the shimmers. The formula seems slightly different than the old KVD shimmer formula, but it’s really buttery and has a lot of pigment. The formula of the mattes actually seems worse than the old formula and I’m not the biggest fan of the way they swatched. They definitely seem patchier/less buttery than the old formula.

The shade selection of the shimmers is interesting and looks better in person than in photos. I really like the shade 4-D which is like a better-performing version of UD Solstice. Green Screen is also really unique because it’s like a gold with a green shift, kind of unusual. I just wish the mattes performed as well as the shimmers. The color selection of mattes complements the shimmers well but still somehow feels a bit boring.

As far as the actual structure of the palette: I am NOT a fan. It feels cheap as hell and I really hate that it doesn’t have a mirror. I appreciate the sentiment of the whole “recyclable palette” thing but I really don’t think most people ever have to worry about actually using a full palette and getting to that point. Don’t 99% of people just end up throwing it in the back of some drawer when they’re done with it? I really don’t feel like the sharp decrease in quality is worth the novelty of it being recyclable and the lack of mirror.

The cardboard isn’t even NICE cardboard. It feels kind of flimsy and the palette doesn’t close seamlessly like you’d expect it to. It’s just not nearly as nice as the quality of thee older ones like Saint and Sinner, Metal Matte, etc. I do like the Virtual reality/simulation theme but still somehow it doesn’t have as much “personality” as the old palettes.

If Saint and Sinner was a 9/10 on the intrigue/quality scale then I’ll give this a 5/10 and even that is generous. I’m PRETTY sure I’m going to keep it but I honestly was tempted to send it back at first when I saw how crappy the cardboard case was. But the performance of the shimmers changed my mind (for now).
