Morphe was a huge deal for me as a makeup user and when they opened a store in the UK I traveled to Birmingham just to check it out. But now that they continue to collaborate excessively with whoever is popular rather than releasing products that are genuinely interesting and different from each other and I’m so bored. What would the brand be if it didn’t keep slapping random influencers who usually have nothing to do with makeup on random products that they probably had somewhere in the back of the warehouse. I know brands like colorpop do a lot of collaborations too, but when color pop does, it’s actually interesting. Packaging and advertising are usually unique and different. When I buy a colorpop collaboration, I don’t feel like I’m going to get the same boring product with a random name or brand. Idk maybe it’s just me but Morphe seems to have taken the rout of praying over young influencers instead of actually investing in R&D and actually improving their products. It is not a sustainable business model and that puts me off.
You might want to look into some of the Morphe controversies – particularly with Crown Brushes. There are some legitimate reasons you’re feeling that way
After they reformulated Jaclyn Hill’s original palette without informing their consumers, I was done with their brand due to their lack of transparency.
I picked up my first morphe products about a year ago, it was a palette that was on a clearance and a couple of brushes, I was hyped for them cause everyone seems to raves over morphe.
I think I’ve used the palette about 5/6 times…. Some of colours are great others are just blah. And 1/2 the brushes have gone stiff and scratchy after their first wash.
It’s way over hyped. I think you right it’s doesn’t seem be about being quality product at an affordable price anymore, which was their original directive (correct me if I’m wrong there). They do seem to be more about putting the current flavour of the month influencer on their products now.
They seem to following the fast fashion route of marketing.
They go ALL IN on these young influencers and then find out that they’re problematic and move onto the next one. They’re relying on a face for the brand to bring in customers rather than quality product. Over the years Morphe has just let me down over and over again with their formulas when there are other brands that are even cheaper, selling much higher quality product.
I agree with pretty much everything except I will add that the latest pride collection this year was pretty banger
I dont like morphes eyeshadow quality and I think their palettes are way too big and the color stories are really boring. I would rather pick up some colourpop palettes. I’m kinda glad the morphe hype has been dying
Just buy crown brushes, exact same stuff.. they even have the “Jaclyn hill” palette.. and you’re not paying for the influencer advertising, much cheaper
I’ve been heavily de-interested in Morphe after trying one of their brushes because of how prickly they were and how every palette was the same. I don’t understand why people still shill their crappy boring items when there’s so much better out there.
I think that they’ve become a lot more affordable as a higher end brand, tbh. As a general rule, their pigments do have awesome payoff and their pallets tend to make sense. I think that they give a really good basis for starting to dive deeper into make up. As for colorpop, I hate their pallets. They often have little color payoff. I have been using Juvia’s place almost exclusively.

They’ve always been super sketchy, you have every reason to be put off by them
