It’s my 40s and I’m running a makeup channel – mainly because my boyfriend is already fed up with hearing me review him palettes lol I’d love to talk more about makeup, try new things, push myself in terms of look, techniques and most importantly do tutorials for my average skinned colleagues <3 ... but I don't want to post more review / sample videos or a how-to guide for smoky eyes yet! & # x200B; What do you think we are missing (if any) in the beauty community? What would you like to see? (doesn't necessarily have to be advice for me, but also in general!)
Day wear looks.
I’m sorry but I can’t wear 6 different colors in one look in my day to day. Plus, 99% of everything you see on you tube looks RIDICULOUS irl.
Seems simple enough but multiple looks per palette before giving a full review! I don’t find it helpful to watch a review and 4 shadows are used out of 15-30. Maybe a different look per day..some days could be work vs date vs daytime etc
I’d love to see a video on how to come up with a signature makeup look for oneself. Like talking about learning what would be flattering for our features and what different makeup looks can express, personality-wise.
I often just follow what other youtubers are doing in their tutorials, but the resulting look doesn’t feel much like me, and isn’t tailored to my individual skin/face shape. And the videos on “makeup for square-shaped faces” or “eyeliner for your eye shape” often don’t work for me because I don’t really fit into any of the categories they list. I’d rather be able to look at myself holistically and decide what to do.
So yeah! I would love to learn how to hand-craft a look (like how I imagine celebrity makeup artists come up with a signature look for their clients).
Not sure if this quite answers your question, but I’d love to see more consumerism-conscious beauty youtubers that do less sale recommendations and more shopping their stash/achieving the same look for less. Been loving Lauren Mae Beauty specifically.
Skincare is blowing up and skincare product reviews are so helpful. Even if you make a video about a very common topic, your style and the way you edit your videos are a great way to attract a genuine and loyal audience. (Aka youtubers are lacking unique styles these days)

Tbh I wish we had more channels focusing on the makeup itself rather than the glitz and glam of the channel creator. Like, what it looks like, smells like, how it feels, how it preforms, etc. I like watching people do their makeup and talk about their lives but if I’m watching a review or a first impression I want to actually SEE what they’re talking about.
