Unfortunately, I had an accident which gave me a pretty big scar on my forehead. Visually, this scar appears as if there is an indentation / thin layer of my skin missing on the surface. Since this indentation is on my forehead, it makes me really depressed to be honest. I’m just wondering if anyone has any experience with foundation or concealer that could help cover this up? Is dermablend my only option? I have read that cream online is the best for filling scars – is it true?
I’m sorry to hear about your accident! I hope you’re alright besides the scar. I feel I should remind you (although you probably already know this) that scars are nothing to be ashamed of and do not need to be hidden. But, if you’re determined to minimize it’s appearance, I think a putty or cream-like material could be worth a try. I believe ELF has a putty primer for an affordable price with generally good reviews. Best of luck!
To be honest, even the best make up will only make the smallest difference when it’s indented. If it’s really bothering you, I’d recommend seeing a skilled dermatologist to either have it raised with hyaluronic acid filler, or reduced with laser 🙂
My opinion is to look into the makeup putty. Pore filling primers do not fill in as much as people think. I have large pores and there is nothing in a primer that actually fills my pores. I don’t want you to have high expectations for primers and get upset when they don’t work. You can try but I don’t think a primer is going to help.
You can buy stage makeup, there’s this putty they use for creating spots or scars on an actor’s face but you can also use small amounts to fill in indentations on the skin.
Mehron Modelling Putty/Wax is one brand which is decent and fairly affordable (it’s like $5), but there are lots available.
I would actually consider a primer… Foundations/concealers cover redness but still show texture. Primers can smooth things over and fill things in. Look for a thicker pore filling primer. I’ve heard amazing things about Tatcha silk canvas if it is in your budget. The drugstore also has putty primers though like the ELF one.
