I am thinking of buying but I don’t know which one to buy. So I want to know what you think about YSL lip products and which one is best for you and why. I don’t really know what the difference is between them, so maybe you could tell me more about it. I’m curious about the difference between Volupte, Rouge Pur Couture and Tattoo. Thank you!!
YSL has many many different lines; afaik, some of their current lines are:
β’ **rouge volupte shine oil-in-stick** in the gold cylindrical case with engraved band (glossy bullet, there are variations with similar packaging that are roughly the same concept, maybe with some added glitter) this is the one in the gorgeous iconic packaging and i love. the texture is so unique, incredibly slippery and silky yet with great adhesion, and the finish is super pretty and glossy, and has that pigmented yet translucent quality. its not really creamy like regular bullets, its almost more like a very pigmented balm. it is very moisturizing at first but can get dry afterwards. it has a strong, slightly bitter mango scent, and buildable pigmentation. i have 6 and might collect more in the future π one of the only glossy lipsticks i use. i think 80 is the most famous shade but it’s not my fav.
β’ **rouge pur culture** in the standard-looking square gold case (standard creamy satin bullet) never tried this one, probably won’t. seems very standard, people praise that it’s moisturizing and pigmented but some say it’s too creamy and slides right off the lips.
β’ **tatouage matte stain** in the tube with gold top and frosted glass body (standard matte liquid lipstick). this one is pretty good. it’s extremely lightweight and thin, extraordinarily comfortable for a matte liquid lipstick; not the most tenacious matte liquid lipstick formula but it’s still longwearing and transferproof, and it survives like one – i think that makes it special. i’d recommend it especially to those who really want to use matte liquid lipsticks but usually cant bear them. the cap chips like anything so i would never put it in my purse tho. 16 is the most famous shade if i remember correctly and its very beautiful.
β’ **vinyl stain** in the tube that is totally black with a window in the body (gloss). LOVE this shit. it has the most beautiful glossy finish, yet another ‘pigmented but translucent’ texture, is actually moisturizing and STAYS moisturizing, adheres well to the lips and has great longevity for a gloss. it has a very light stain. not the biggest fan of the smell, and its not the most popular ysl lipstick, but this is my fav formula. it’s what i wished the rom& juicy lasting tint was and converted me from a diehard matte lipstick fan to an appreciate-er of glossier lips. if they would just release more colours that i liked i would have more. 407 is the most famous colour, but i like 416 most.
β’ **glossy stain** in the gold top and black body with a window (glossy stain). never tried this, i imagine it’s sort of similar to the vinyl stain, maybe lighter and a better stain? this i think is one of the most famous lines right now.
β’ **water stain** in the tube with a black top and clear body with a black stripe (water-gel stain). this is a classic water gel formula and its definitely nice, it leaves a very even stain which is rare for this kind of formula, but for like 8x the price i think i’ll stick to etude house. has a bitter taste.
β’ **leathermatte** in long black square tip crayon with gold accent (matte crayon). the colour selection is beautiful and the formula is great, but its physical design lends it no structural integrity and i hate the square tip.
β’ **slim sheer glow** in the long black square tip crayon with silver accent (sheer satin crayon). haven’t tried it, but i intend to… the colours look so pretty.
hope this was helpful! overall i think neither the formula nor shade selection by itself makes any of the formulas worth the price tag, but that, together with the beautiful packaging and the luxe feel, makes them kind of a treat to use. most of them have a very strong fragrance and some of the packaging chips easily (looking at you, matte stain), but the lipsticks themselves stay good for a long time in my experience (unlike say, tom ford, that goes rancid in like a year).
good luck c:
