Ok, so what’s up with Il Makiage? I can’t even tell if it’s a good makeup brand due to spam with generic reviews. I gave in to the excessive Instagram ads the other month and bought them a concealer. It’s a good concealer, it’s definitely not exactly the right shade for my skin, but it works. Anyway, since then they basically send me a $ 15 or $ 20 coupon in return for leaving a comment. I then use it to buy a $ 20 lipstick, and the cycle continues. I got up to 4 lipsticks that I have this way now. Basically I only pay $ 5 shipping (a waste of shipping I know the pandemic made me buy stupid things online). I have noticed, however, that it seems like other people are doing the same based on the hundreds of one-sentence reviews that sound like mine over the past few months. Is this something brands do? Do you basically like paying people for reviews just to make them look like they got a good rating? Because subconsciously I give them 4/5 stars just because I get $ 15-20. And I’m sure others do too. It’s just a little scary when I think about it. It is also very difficult to tell if their makeup is really good. Their aesthetic is quite brilliant, promotional and without substance from what I can tell. Does anyone know what they actually look like in terms of quality?
They’re pretty crap. It’s an average at best foundation, definitely doesn’t miracle match you. My sister tried it and it was…fine? Not worthbthe hype, most drugstore brands are better.
