Hi! I have fairly pale skin and am super dry. A lot of my dry patches come from scabs as I have a pretty severe picking habit so it’s hard to cover these spots without flaking. Even when they heal, the redness appears with just about any foundation I use. The shades that suit me best are Too Faced BTW in Cloud, KVD Lock It in L41 Neutral, Huda Faux Filter in 100b Milkshake and Covergirl Trublend Concealer in L100 Fair. Problem is, they all end up (in order of products) fading, crumpling, or horribly oxidizing on me. I can’t put powder on it because of my dryness, it’s just cakes. I wanted something more complete or able to build, with more longevity. I like dew or satin matte, I tend to stay away from very matte because it sits horribly on those dry areas. My skin can take a little while so I’m not too worried about the rashes, just the dryness. I’ve researched Peach Perfect, Fenty Hydrating Foundation, and Milk Makeup Blur Liquid, but there aren’t many options I’ve found that work for both paleness and dryness. I am also open to looking for a good concealer to combine with one of these foundations. I will be very grateful if you share your favorite moisturizers or primers to target these issues! Do you wear lotion and/or sunscreen under your foundation? I use Estee Lauder DoubleWear foundation, which is matte full coverage applied on its own. I use Cerave daily moisturizing lotion, and then once that’s dry, I use CoTZ sunscreen. The sunscreen is very “glowy” lol, but it sits perfectly under the DoubleWear, giving a more natural finish when all is said and done.
ELDW does not oxidize or fade with wear. They also have a very wide shade range. If your skin is flaking/cracking, it’s not going to fix that, but in my experience, it doesn’t make things look worse. It’s not a hydrating foundation in the least, so it may not suit you if that’s a criteria. Personally I’d focus on skincare primarily, at least until you can get the flakes under control. (Absolutely no judgement, the winter season is wrecking my skin right now with dryness, acne and irritation.)
I personally did not like the Fenty hydrating foundation on my very dry skin. Clung to everything! I know some love it though.
My favorite on my dry skin has been the Clinique Even Better. They have like 56 shades, it is a natural finish (not too dewy, not matte) and medium buildable coverage. It does not cling to my dry spots and sets well enough on it’s own that I don’t need powder (I also don’t powder because of the dryness). No issues with it lasting a typical day on me.
I am very fair as well. Sometimes the lightest shade in a range at the drugstore is still too dark. I’m actually like 3 shades from the lightest in this!
