Violet Voss – Olive You Forever ✌
……
👁 Look Created: Winged Duo-Blend
……
⚫ Packaging: shades are 1.8g each, square-shaped pans, olive-colored cardboard packaging, bi-fold, palette name & brand is front & center, light-weight, magnetic closure, small rectangle shape, mid-size mirror inside, pans are not intended to be removed, shade names are designated south of each shade
⚫ Dexterity Concerns: yes; the magnet on this palette is very strong & can be very difficult to open.
……
⚫ Type of Press: moderate – a lot of kickback in pans, no fallout on my face; can do either base or eyes first with this palette
……
⚫ Extra Information: created with Violet Voss’s luxe PRO formula, supposed to be universally flattering olive shades w/ complementary hues, ‘clean’ formula, cruelty-free, vegan, 24-month PAO (visible on outer box only)
🔸️Shade Variance: this palette has a nice ‘light-to-dark’ gradient. There are a few ‘neutral transition shades’ for a range of skintones.
🔸️Formula:
MATTES: I was actually sad to see no matte ‘olive’ shades in an olive-themed palette. The only mattes are a gradient variety of dusty rose tones. Although disappointed with the colors themselves, the formula of the mattes is above par. They blend & layer very nicely. I would conclude this to be more of a ‘buildable’ formula, applying less pigmented than the build-up.
FOILS: the ‘foils’ & the ‘metallics’ in this palette are QUITE similar, with very subtle differences. I’d say the foils are slightly higher in pigment, & most-definitely have a creamier feel. They are also noticeably more reflective.
METALLICS: when it comes to looking specifically at the three included metallics, they still possess a base-pigment, but it is slightly more transparent than the foils. When directly compared head-on to the foils, they have a more ‘satin’ regard & are considerably less gleaming than the foils.
MATTE BLACK: I always like to comment on the matte black (if the palette contains one). This particular shadow is really good. It is completely obsidian-like in color, & can be applied with full saturation, or lightly blended. I believe this was a great addition to this color-story for creating depth.
🔸️Packaging: In my opinion, this packaging is lousy. Many of Violet Voss’s palettes present with a large price-tag, & disappointing, mediocre, unfinished-looking packaging.
🔸️Recommendation: I’ve never done an eye look like this before, but I thought it was a fitting strategy to bring the dusty roses & the olive hues together into one complete look. Again, I wish there were an olive-toned matte or two in this color-story, but as it stands – I had quite a lot of fun pottering around with this palette. The shades are notable, & I can see myself using this on many more occasions. The price per shade is ‘affordable’. Each shadow pan holds an above-average amount of shadow. I don’t think anybody would find difficulty in storing this palette. I am keeping this in my collection.
▪️If you are interested in this palette, I would definitely recommend it.
