I feel like I’m using 3 or 4 palettes per makeup application session. It’s too much ? Should I try to stick to one palette – two vertices? It can get confusing using so much, but I’m excited about all the different colors lol. What are you all doing? ** Edit: Random question and sorry for being off topic, but how do you deal with a sweaty face while putting on makeup? My face sometimes drips with sweat in my eyes! And we don’t have air conditioning! **
The only time I really stick to one palette is when I make myself only use one. Most of the time, I think about what colors I want to use and get them from whichever palettes I find them in. I know palettes are generally curated to have shades that go well together, but it’s also fun to make my own combinations and not feel limited.
There’s no rule against using multiple palettes. If you like the convenience of using one at a time, cool! If you prefer using a mishmash of palettes/brands to get the look you have in your head, that’s awesome! π
It depends on what kind of look Iβm going for or where my inspiration is coming from. Sometimes a palette itself is the inspiration. Sometimes I want specific colors and pull from three or four palettes.
I would say if you NEVER use just one palette for a look, maybe try it sometime?
Sometimes I use just 1 palette but I often do the same as you and pull colors I want to use from whichever palette has that color. Sometimes it has to do with the formula too. For example I have one palette that is all mattes and I love how they blend. And a different palette has my favorite shimmer formula because they are very opaque and smooth. So i might use whatever palette I start with, then grab my favorite matte palette to use the darker colors to deepen the outer eye. Then grab my favorite shimmer from the other palette for the inner eye. Thereβs no right or wrong.
Have you tried putting a small fan aimed towards your face on low while you do your makeup? Maybe that would keep it drier and cooler.
The only time I really use just one palette is when I’m traveling. I normally use at least two palettes. The only palettes I can think of that I use solo are Sugarpill x Trixie, ND Glam, Melt Gemini and Colourpop x Baby Yoda.
I typically use 2-4 palettes and my singles collection. I use the monochromatic Colourpop palettes for pops of colors, get a neutral shade from another palette and I always use the black shades from Gemini or my ABH x Alyssa palette as my liner or darkening shade.
I also like to mix shades for new colors! So I’ll use a combo of palettes to get some unique shades.
If you like using multiple palettes I don’t see any problem with it. I enjoy using my entire collection, so I don’t mind opening 3 palettes on my vanity and hopping between them. I also like playing palette bingo! It forces me to be creative & try new looks π
I think it’s because I did a lot of drawing/painting before I got into make-up but I’m very frustrated by the concept of building looks from a palette. I generally know what result I’m trying to achieve and I pick my colours from wherever. I also hate having 50 repeat neutral beiges because there’s one in every palette so I tend to buy a lot of singles and chuck them all together in a magnetic palette.
I try my best to build looks with one pallete. It’s rare that I use more than one.
