I really wanted to try the Glossier You perfume, but I considered ordering a low cost product to receive a sample of the perfume instead of buying blind. Can anyone tell me if the Balm DotCom is really overpriced petroleum jelly? Are any of their products worth the hype? I don’t really do full foundation, concealer, bb cream because my skin is generally very clear. I’m also good on mascara and have a moisturizer that works great. Open to other product suggestions and reviews from them!
I believe the balm dot com contains lanolin, which some people are allergic to. Lanolin-based ointments are pretty superior to Vaseline in my opinion. They’re both occlusive but lanolin actually imparts some moisture in my experience.
I placed a Glossier order recently and here are my thoughts:
Ultralip: absolutely perfect product for me. I’m a sucker for hydrating lip color. I chose the shade Portrait which is a perfect spring/summer pink. The pigmentation is great for a sheer product and lasts a long time. I’d like to also get the color Villa.
Lidstar: liquid eyeshadow. I was underwhelmed by this at first because I like to go super sparkly on the lids but it grew on me. It is somewhat buildable, if you tap it on and let it set a bit before applying more. A nice, easy everyday option. You can do a monochrome look by putting blush or bronzer in the crease.
Cloud paint: Super meh. I am finding this really difficult to apply in a controlled way. It’s either so sheer as to be barely there or way too much.

I have only ever tried their cloud paint and even though I thought I overpaid at first. They lasted me a while. Dr. Dray on YouTube did a review of the skin care line and basically said the ingredients are good but they ruin all there products with added fragrance in the forms of essential oils and it defeats the propose. At the end of the day it’s your choice and you might like the brand. Just ask yourself what truly works best for your pockets and go from there. 💛
I have the Generation G lipstick in a brown shade. It’s a hard and waxy consistency which sounds awful but it just means that its buildable and matte. It also has a lovely scent. Boy Brow is amazing. It’s got the right amount of hold and pigment and I don’t see myself every switching to another product. I also have Cloud Paint which is a bit runny but pigmented so a little goes a long way.
the cloud paints are one of my favorite liquid blushes if you’re interested in that type of product, i have almost all the shades and enjoy mixing them as well. some other products that i keep repurchasing are the boy brow (although i have been able to find dupes like the essence one), milky jelly cleanser, stretch concealer, and generation g lipsticks (for a natural blotted lip look).
been curious to try their new ultralip and cleanser as well, been resisting the urge to pick those up myself during this sale
