The big brushes on the left are powder brushes, the other brushes are eyeshadow brushes and a foam applicator, the angled brush is for eyeliner or eyebrow application. One of the brushes seems to be missing a handle and there’s also a spoolie for your eyebrows. How much money do they ask for? The brushes don’t seem to be of higher quality and a tad old. Lastly the top two brushes might be for applying lipstick.
welcome! may i ask what your budget is for a starter set? while you could make these brushes work, you may have better luck with a different set, especially as a beginner. the top two will be hard to work with and seem scratchy, they’re probably designed for eyeshadow? honestly, they looks like brushes that probably were included in a palette. the third from top has a spoolie, which you can use on your lashes and eyebrows. the opposite end of it seems to have a liner brush, but again, it’d probably be hard to work with.
the two on the left are face brushes, they look small, so probably best used for blush/bronzer/contour and not powder or foundation (powder brushes are usually bigger and fluffier and foundation brushes are usually more compact and the hairs are not as long). the next five are all eye brushes. first three of the eye brushes are for eyeshadow, though the smallest one could be used for applying lip products (it seems it was used for that, based off the red tinge, lol). the right most (white sponge) won’t serve much purpose, but it could come in handy in looks that are pigmented and require precision. people hate these sponge tips, but i do like them here and there. you could buy a pack of these for fairly cheap, since reusing and washing it would end up destroying the sponge. the angled brush next to it looks like a liner or brow brush.
if you have other options and means, i’d recommend a different set as these would be difficult to work with. 😊

I’m thinking about buying this set from Facebook marketplace but I have a hard time identifying what each of the brushes is used for. Unfortunately looking it up on the internet wasn’t much of a help for me either.
I’m new to makeup, would this set be good as a starter?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.
