I have this very specific and frustrating problem and if anyone has any advice I would love to hear it! I have a lot of redness on my face from rosacea, and I recently loved Dr. Jart Tiger Grass Color Correcting Cream. I wear it alone most of the time because it only takes one step and it soothes the redness enough to fend off the “did you just come from the gym?” or “have you been sunburned?” type in the questions I get all the time. But when I try to wear foundation on it, it looks horrible. I recently bought the Estee Lauder Doublewear Liquid Foundation because I want both the SPF of the cream and the transfer resistance of the foundation, but I have a hard time getting them to sit together on my face . It smudges my nose and forehead and looks mushy every time I try a setting powder. I love these two products individually but clearly they don’t like each other. Has anyone else tried wearing any type of liquid foundation over this cream? I have normal / oily skin and I apply a little hyaluronic acid and Sephora moisturizer before applying the Dr. Jart cream and then the foundation. The cream is quite thick and can be a bit oily, causing the foundation to be streaky and not mixing well. Would Dr Jart Camo Drops be a good replacement for color correcting cream? Should I try a primer? Should I go for a powder foundation or a different liquid foundation? My main priorities are SPF and transfer resistance / long wear. Hot girl summer is upon us, so I have to figure that out. Thank you very much to anyone who can help you!
From one rosacea sufferer to another, I hear you. I get asked the sunburn question all the time. Now I just bluntly reply “I have a skin condition but thanks for pointing it out.” Hopefully they think twice before commenting on someone else’s appearance.
I don’t have any advice about the Dr. Jart cream, but I use the IT cosmetics bye bye redness and I really like it. Also the IT CC cream with spf 50 works well for me.
I use this Dr J product only on my “concealer only” days because I canNOT get it to work with anything on top. The only way I’ve found to add serious coverage on top is via a powder foundation because it also sets the color correcting cream. However, I know not everyone likes powder foundation and some people have dry skin (I’m v oily) so it may not be an option for everyone. I’m sorry you’re struggling!
It sounds like both products are definitely fighting each other and separating. I would recommend the Makeup forever color correcting green primer. I feel like it’s very similar to the Dr. J but dries down a little more to grip product.
Find someone who does IPL or BBL treatments. They are amazing for rosacea redness and not too expensive. Also be sure to use only sensitive skin ingredients to not cause more inflammation to your already inflamed skin.
