There was a similar article 3 years ago, so maybe it’s time for an update. I’m pretty cool / neutral. I use Laura Mercier 1C0 Tinted Moisturizer which seems to balance my yolk. So many lipsticks look great in the tube and on others but pull brown on my lips. Light pinks tend to appear chalky. Many NYX and NARS lipsticks / pencils that I have tried have turned brown. NARS Dolce Vita (dusty pink or “dark coral”?), Niagara (pink coral) and Impulse (berry / wine) work well; Too bad (grape) it’s good but I look a little sick. Clinique Black Honey is also good. I want to try Pillow Talk or some MAC nudes but I hesitate! Recommendations?
Following because, uh, same. Every lipstick described as Rosewood is just Wood for me, lol. Pillow talk also brown. They also are all somehow a terrible brown at that. I remember liking the way Mac Velvet Teddy looked, but I haven’t used any nudes since the beginning of the pandemic. Interested to know what others like.
This is opposite of my problem, all browns look pink/purple on me🥲

Can I ask, because I’ve rarely met other people for whom this happens: u/Minn_Girl u/TheFluffening – what are your undertones? What do you use for foundation?
I’m neutral, but I really struggle to find foundations. I’ve been told I have both strong pink *and* strong yellow undertones. 99.8% of foundations look orange. Cooler foundations? Orange. Warm foundations? Also orange, but differently.
I once went to sephora and tried something like 25 different foundations, and walked out with the foundation I was already using (Nars Mont Blanc). Would love to find additional foundations that I can use as I just don’t wear makeup enough in the pandemic to pop for $50/bottle.
