I recently had to throw out all of my new makeup products (basically) – foundation, concealer, primer, etc. as they were silicone based. For my (dry) skin type, I need water-based products. I recently purchased L’Oréal Infalliable Pro-Glow Foundation and Morphe 2, 3 – 1 Face Mist. I put them both on, and the result was amazing … except for the part that after putting them on, my nose and eyes immediately started to cry! I think I might be allergic to any of the 2 products … which sucks because I spent a lot of money on makeup in the last 6 months. Anyone else have this problem ?! I am also allergic to Covergirl products. I JUST WANT TO BE PRETTY !!! Help 😩
Hmm… I’ve never heard of using water based only for dry skin and I have dry skin too…
I cannot tolerate the ProGlow foundation either though. I have learned that despite foundations being marketed to dry skin, a lot of them contain denatured alcohol which is known to dry skin out more for many people, myself included. The proglow foundation BURNED on me like 10 seconds after application, I had to wipe it off.
Many setting sprays are also alcohol based or contain a lot of fragrance which also bothers my skin.
Just an FYI – you don’t need to throw out products just because they are necessarily suited to your skin type. You might be able to use some of these products in combination with others to make them more wearable.
Have you tried Pacifica products? Some people have told me they can wear their products without issues.
If the products are causing dryness, flaking etc then you need to focus on a good skin care routine focusing on hydration and maintaining your skin barrier. Look out for products containing ceramides, glycerin and niacinamide. Applying moisturiser to damp skin and following up with spf will prime your skin better than most primers, especially since you’ve got dry skin 🙂
