Good luck for your viva! You look lovely. Only advice would be to add a touch of bronzer to your chin as well. As it stands your face below your mouth looks a lot paler than the rest of your face, a little dusting of bronzer will even you out! 🙂
I’m having my virtual PhD viva (defence) next Thursday and I’m testing out this potential look for the day – a classic red lip with a neutral sparkly eye. I welcome your thoughts, advice and tips! Please note I have very asymmetrical features, I try my best on that front lol. Hair will (hopefully) will be styled with soft curls.
You look beautiful! I love it. When I gave my defense, I remember I wore peacock earrings bc it was on Flannery O’Connor’s work and she is associated with peacocks. You should try to tie something into your look that will honor your subject if you can! I remember it gave me such a little boost of confidence to know I had a “secret” sign on me. Good luck!!
This is a great look for you, a little bronzer on the chin will make it 100%, as suggested.
I would consider a slightly more muted lip, perhaps a little closer to a brick red. This is a great colour on you but on camera it’s likely to be very dramatic and you’d rather not have people focusing on your makeup during your defence.
As an aside, your features are pretty much bang on average for symmetry. I would never have noticed had you brought it up, and even then nothing sticks out to me at all.
Looks good to me! Test it out with some friends using the lighting and system that you’ll use during your defense though, too. That makes a huge difference. I suspect you may want a more muted lip in that context (based on helping my peeps prep for biz presentations on zoom — bright colors reallllly pop more than they do in real
life). YMMV.
