https://imgur.com/gallery/FeG01Ki Additional pics but pretty much the same lol: https://imgur.com/gallery/c29pbBY I was playing with makeup today by Boredom and was originally testing the products for the face but decided to try a look for summer this year Idk if anyone else has this problem but eye shadows especially brown ones always look so dull to me no matter what i did, how much i mixed just a dull af, i had this idea to put my yellow eye shadow under my brown shadow bcz sometimes i put yellow eye shadow under my pinker eyeshadows to make it look more orange since I like the orange blush on me or I sometimes diffuse my bronzer with the yellow to make my face look fresher and “shinier” I guess it sounds crazy I know, but it feels really natural to me. If you use on the face, you should use a small amount! This is pretty much the craziest thing I have done to my face since I loved makeup, but I love a ‘my skin but better’ look, .. for the last few years I hated the feel of makeup on my skin is sad but i can’t play with makeup as much as i like too! anyway back to the message With my finger I put the yellow all over my lid and diffused up to the abs eyebrows did the same with the brown and omg I instantly felt in love! It was crazy to see that I clearly had brown eyeshadow, but it looked so shiny! It could have been the shade of brown I was using but for some reason I really felt the yellow made it stand out, Bcz uve used this shade of brown before on my cover alone and using the exact same way and I don’t remember loving it so much! I just wanted to share this little hack! Does anyone do this ?! Sorry the pictures are not amazing Im not good at it and rarely to the eye never really looks like π Hope the pictures do Justice π let me know if you try it π
Your skin has olive undertones so adding yellow is making the brown more cohesive. It probably wouldn’t look as good on pink undertones. It looks great on you!
omg yes I love brown eyeshadows with super red or yellow undertones! it’s so much more interesting than just a neutral brown, though those are useful to but not as unique or colorful
I do this for blush a lot too! I use an H&M single eyeshadow in the shade Turmeric. Also, if you want a really good yellow toned blush, the new Elf highlighter & blush duo in the shade Cantaloupe is amazing
Painters often use yellow paint as an under-painting to bring vibrancy and brightness to the colours on top. It absolutely makes sense the same would be true with eyeshadow.
So cool that you figured this out while experimenting!
It looks goooood!!
Do you have pics or a post of your yellow cheeks? That concept is interesting to me
omg thank you for this!! i bought some yellow
eyeshadow a while back with high hopes, but i never use it. now i can get some use out of it π
If you want it even more vivid, put some white cream eyeshadow on before your colors. You look lovely π
What’s the shadow you use?? This looks good! I love the yellow on the inner corner trend so I wanted to try it but the shadow I got from morphie was less than stellar. I need yellow recommendations!!
Um, why has this never occurred to me??? The color looks so beautiful on you! I’m trying this tomorrow as I’m working on loving a brown/neutral palette and it’s just not getting where I want. You are BRILLIANT!!!
This is so great, trying tomorrow!

My eye color is the same as yours but I have cool undertones. I think Iβll try it anyway!
Sam from Pixiwoo did something like this in an old grunge tutorial before she and Nic nuked their YouTube channel and it really did make the warm brown stand out.
Looking very nice
Love it π
I really love this! I have the same issue with brown eyeshadow, I always think it just looks a bit dull. And I have a yellow eyeshadow in a pallet I never use!
love this idea! i started out in oil painting before i got into makeup and i wish more people would mix their shades and make custom colours with what they have instead of endlessly purchasing new shades, palettes, singles, etc. thanks for sharing this hack OP
must buy yellow eyeshadow now to try
Wow!! Beautiful! Youβre right!! Thanks for sharing!! Trying this, soon as I pick up some yellow eye shadow!
You answered a question I didn’t even know I had! I am so trying this tomorrow. <3
Omg I have yellow undertones Iβm definitely trying this trick. I wear brown eyeshadow everyday.
