I need help so much, the state of my foundation makes me so depressed and insecure. I added photos but they are much better than in real life! It doesn’t matter if I use a primer or not, liquid or powder foundation, set with powder, setting spray, hydration, waiting for each product to dry etc. nothing seems to stop my makeup to come apart, especially on my chin, nose and around my mouth. I made sure it wasn’t a silicone or water based product issue, but that doesn’t seem to fix it either. I do not know what to do. Everything I do makes my acne horrible, and I don’t know how to fix it. I think I have oily / clammy skin and am doing my best to keep it well hydrated. I also have very acne prone skin and makeup seems to make it worse. My skin routine isn’t great, but I’m going to see a dermatologist soon to sort this out. AM: Water with Clinique Moisturizing Washcloth or Clinique Very Different Moisturizing Gel I just started the Daily Body Shop Tea Tree Blemish Solution PM: Micellar Water Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Cleanser Sometimes Clinique Clarifying Lotion ( exfoliating toner) Moisturizer I occasionally use Essano cinnamon facial scrub and Glamglow supermud mask. Recently I tried Estée Lauder double wear, Hourglass Vanish Foundation, Clinique Almost Powder Makeup, and Australis Fresh Flawless Powder. I also use the UD All Nighter Fixing Spray. I would be grateful for any ideas of what I can try!
If you have the ability, go see a dermatologist about getting on spironolactone. It is an off label Hormonal acne treatment but regularly prescribed by derms. I have always had the same issue with oil / my makeup staying put together . Since taking this med my oil production has reduced significantly, way less breakouts, makeup staying on better. If you have insurance the medicine is dirt cheap. May even be affordable out of pocket. Another thing to consider is a birth control that treats acne. Helps so much with oil production and breakouts. Worth it imo to be on it whether you’re sexually active or not.
ALSO** maybe try a med-coverage BB cream instead of foundation. I find it’s more flexible / doesn’t cake up or break up visibly. I use MISSHA BB cream, it’s Korean. Bb cream + setting powder + bronzer and blush + setting spray does the trick for me , you still get the full face look without the heaviness of foundation
