Hi! I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good affordable primer for someone with oily skin. Is it true that primer helps prevent rashes? I had the elf flawless primer and it doesn’t really work. The makeup is bad and I can see my pores more instead of less with it. Also in the middle of the day when my nose is getting oily, it seemed like the makeup was peeling off which doesn’t happen like that with just regular makeup on my face. Thanks in advance 💖
I use a few. I like the Rimmel stay matte one, elf matte putty primer, elf luminous primer, and the maybelline baby skin.
When I was younger and still really struggling with acne, I found that the makeup itself was never really what was causing the breakouts (unless it was something I was allergic to like lavender infused) but was usually a problem with application/removal.
With very oily and acne prone skin it is very very very important that you clean your tools regularly. Even if you apply with fingers, you need to wash your hands/clean under your nails before application. If you aren’t washing your tools, all the oil and acne causing gunk on your face goes to live on the sponge or brush, ready to be put back on your face the next time. With proper removal, I used a gentle makeup remover and a gentle face cleanser. I then moisturize with something made for oily skin. Stripping the oil from your face will only make it worse. Also if you’re washing your face in the shower, make sure you turn the water temp down. Too hot water will also dry you out and perpetuate the problems you’re having.
