I browsed and searched for a new eye shadow palette or two. At the moment, I only have the UD Naked 2, Naked Smoky and Tartlet in Bloom palettes. With a few Colourpop singles. The problem is, it seems like 80% of the palettes on the market have this many warm tones. I look awful in colors like yellow, orange, coral, and warm shades of pink. I often find a palette that has a great color story, but when I really look at the colors one by one I realize that I would only use a few of the shadows because there are so many warm tones. Therefore, I cannot justify spending my money on it. Believe me, I just look horrible in these colors. I have dark hair and pale skin. Tanning makes my face dirty. I’m all about moles, smoky colors, blues, purples, pinks and dark reds and greens. Please recommend palettes with such color stories if you know of any!
Most of the “cool toned” palettes are more neutral than actually cool imo. It’s likely due to the market being so saturated with warm tones that anything a few degrees less warm automatically looks cool. I would look at head-to-head swatch comparisons before committing.
I looked into cool toned palettes recently and one consistent rec seems to be the Smashbox Cover Shot palette in Punked.
Sydney Grace is a really amazing quality indie brand and there is so much hype surrounding their cool toned shadows. If you would consider doing single shadows I would try there! I believe they also have some pre made palettes as well.
Natasha Denona Glam Palette and mini glam, Too Faced Chocolate Bon Bons, Bare Minerals Gen Nude Rose Palette, KVD Vegan Beauty Lolita Por Vida, ABH Sultry, Natasha Denona Mini Retro Palette, Colourpop Frozen II Elsa palette are all cool-toned palettes; I have them in my collection so I can vouch that they’re worth purchasing.
Personally, I love colourpop’s going coconuts palette- they’re nice neutral cool tones. 🙂
